Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. By "laying on hands" is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki comes from Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". Reiki is: "spiritually guided life force energy."

In a Reiki session, the practitioner asks the recipient to lie down and relax. The practitioner acts as a channel for Reiki energy to wherever the client requires it. Usually, the practitioner moves the hands close to or on various parts of the recipient's body. Some clients report feeling various subjective sensations: heat, tingling, cold, pressure, etc. Practitioners of Reiki attribute these sensations to energy filling energetic deficiencies in the body and aura of the recipient, repairing and opening their energy channels (meridians or nadis), pulling out "negativity," and dissolving the blockages of "stale" energy.

If the recipient needs it and is ready to heal, the Reiki energy will go where it needs to. But if, on the other hand, the intended recipient does not accept the energy on some level, the energy will not be absorbed.
